What is a seamless gutter?
A seamless gutter system, also called a continuous gutter, is a little misleading in its name, since there actually are seams in the system.
These occur only at the corners and instead of slip fittings, these joints are connected and sealed using a two part polycarbonate connecting system for stability and leak resistance.
The gutter runs themselves are continuous and by using internal fixing brackets every 450 mm they are both strong and visually more appealing.
Advantages of Aluminium Guttering
Aluminium has long been the preferred material in the construction of commercial buildings as demonstrated by the many aluminium facades, windows and doors seen. The popularity of aluminium is now also evident in other products such as bifolding doors, windows and more.
Aluminium Guttering now provides all the advantages of strong, durable and long lasting aluminium to this exposed external feature of all our homes with several advantages over traditional plastic gutters. These include:
- Attractive clean and continuous lines
- Wide colour choice
- All the long life benefits of aluminium up to 30 years
- The only continuous aluminium gutter system to gain BBA approval
- From strong and endlessly recyclable aluminium
- Economic to buy, easy to fit.
Seamless Gutters won’t leak, rust or require painting
Most guttering today is from plastics and PVCu. Whilst cheap to purchase and fit it can have disadvantages.
- They can suffer from leaking as joints can creep open.
- Sunlight can cause them to fade
- They can creak in hot weather owing to the greater thermal expansion of plastics over aluminium.
Aluminium Gutters by comparison are a seamless construction that does not suffer these common problems.
Sheet aluminium is roll formed on site from a specialist machine yet. The gutter profile is passed through this machine producing the seamless gutter in an attractive ‘Ogee’ shape and the rolls of aluminium come in various colours.
The ‘Ogee’ profile means that not only can this type of gutter look attractive on new buildings, it replicates guttering used in times gone by and so means that it can be used as a good match on older properties.
After the gutter is formed, internal brackets are clipped into the gutter shape and the gutter is measured on the roof for the position of the down pipe.
The gutter is then screwed to the fascia board and a plastic insert with leaf trap is sealed in position to direct water into the down pipe and a stop end is sealed to the end of the gutter.
It’s quick and easy for our trained installers to fit and in many instances is no more expensive than top quality plastic gutters but will last a lifetime when professionally installed. correctly.
Dimensions of Aluminium Seamless Gutters
