The original doors comprise PVCu French Doors with Flat windows. Our work involved creating a new opening and replacing the dated doors with a more modern alternative.
After removal of the original door set and windows, we removed the brickwork beneath the new windows. Then the opening is further prepared for the new door set.
The nature of this installation also meant creating something different With a staircase directly in front of the doors, the desire for these to open out and also provide the functionality of a main traffic/lead door, a different solution was required.
First of all, when configuring bifolding doors, four panel doors and most bifolds in an even number of panels can only fold in one direction. Choosing an odd number of panels not only creates a more functional door set, but also one with a traffic door. Traffic doors work just like a regular door. One panel swings independently letting our customer open the door for ventilation or let out a pet. Above all they provide all the convenience of a regular door without having to fold the panels back every time.
The solution was to create a three panel design with a fixed window. Not only do the doors give the required functionality but they also live access to the steps outside safe when the doors are open, without the obstruction of a door.
